Eldon Primary is a school in North Preston, surrounded by housing with no grassed fields. Before the project started, the play space consisted of some line markings with a sail shade and it was felt that improved facilities were needed to aid in teaching outside the classroom.
Out Sales Manager, Cathie, sat down with the staff and listened to what they wanted. A clear dialogue was formed and focus was concentrated on two main areas: a sensory garden area and a MUGA area with trim trail.
In the sensory area a timber canopy was specified with storage and water play all featuring within it, with the main area having a textured pathway and artificial grass. Timber planters, digging areas and bark pits provided spaces of exploration of wildlife, and a bridge tunnel gave a physical challenge for children. This section was completed with a sandpit stage and den area.
The MUGA area was enclosed by pressure treated timber wave fencing and as well as having an artificial grass football area also included a trim trail, 4 Way Shoot and Timber Gazebo.
The rejuvenated playground with its exciting equipment now provides the children a strong resource not only for play but for education.
