Canopy Area We have had the privilege to transform a few areas over at Sherwood Primary School in the past, so when we were asked to come back to take on board their EYFS canopy area we were over the moon. Before we started the project, the area was an empty canvas, with only a canopy and fencing enclosing it. This space was in need of some function with the use of new play equipment, storage and surfacing to make it perfect for the children to enjoy lots of outdoor learning and fun. We replaced their existing red curved canopy with a sloped powder coated blue steel constructed canopy to solve the rain water problem that they had and to help it flow off the roof, better. Changing the canopy really helped to brighten/ make the space feel more open too. We also replaced the existing fencing with blue 1.8m high bow top steel fencing to create more privacy from the car park that is located next to the space.

Now onto the equipment. To transform a currently empty area we installed a wonderful range of equipment. Which included: Two timber planters, a single sandbox with seating, magnetic water play, a triple HDPE traverse wall, a role play cabin and a post mounted dry wipe panel, stage with a mural, a storage chest and a outdoor resource shed (as seen in the photos below.) To finish off the transformed canopy area, we laid a mixture of Blue wet pour; Resin bonded surfacing and Artificial Grass to add comfort, texture and visual interest.

Now Sherwood Primary have another amazing and complete ‘outdoor classroom’ that can be used and loved by everyone.
