The space Walton Le Dale wanted us to work our magic on, was initially filled with equipment such as: An old Climbing Unit, Trim Trail pieces and worn-down surfacing that were all in some need of replacing (See first image). Due to the area being located at the front of the school, it was key for this project to make a good impression for everyone who was approaching the entrance.

To transform the area, we took out the old equipment and replaced them with a Cube Climber, Clamber Stack Midi, A Frame Unit, and a Double Otter Unit. The school wanted to add a much-needed physical play element, so these pieces certainly do the trick. To finish of the area and make the area usable in all weathers by laying Artificial Grass Surfacing around each item / working down the slight slope. To help with the gradient in the ground level, we installed an eco-drain system along the edge of the playground to solve their current surface rainwater issue. We also finished of the area next to the physical play – underneath some trees with the same artificial grass surfacing and added in five Circular Picnic Tables and a Corner Recycled Plastic Rainbow Buddy Bench to create a space that children can sit to socialise and learn together.

Now the children at Walton le Dale have an outdoor space suitable for developing key skills whilst being out in the fresh air at playtime.
